Snowy London

I cannot believe how much snow London and the rest of England have gotten. It has effected the entire transportation system in London. The tube system has been shut down except for one line according to the BBC news this morning, and all the buses have been taken out of service. Crazy!
I remember the chaos that erupted after the 7/7 bombings in 2005 when I lived there...it was madness, people were panicking over not being able to get home (don't get me wrong, I don't blame them). However, I think some of the buses were still in service then. Now, nothing seems to be working. I'm sure the taxi companies (if running) are crazy busy.
If that was Sweden nothing would never work around here..hihi... I don't recall ever having heard schools being closed or buses being taken out of service for some snow. Maybe it can happen in the North of Sweden when they get meters of snow.. I don't know. I do remember having arrived to school late a few times though, due to the school bus having slid off the road or gotten stuck in snow .... but if being unsuccessful in getting the bus on the road again, they would just call for another bus - and off to school we'd go. :) I know it's quite common in NYC too, that schools close and people stay home from work when they get a lot of snow. It's kind of the same thing when it rains in LA... madness breaks loose. I swear! :)
According to the news it seems more snow is to be expected in England during the day ...

Great report and cool pics! Southern England is so unused to getting snow that everything's crazy when it does happen, both runways at Heathrow were shut too!
You'd think they'd never heard of grit or salt!
Saying that, we don't usually get too much snow as we're near the coast...what you saw on my post was about as deep as it got :) It's gone now and raining, but there's more forecast....we won't dust our sledges off just yet though!
Slobbers xx
The south of England just can't cope with it! They think -1 is really cold and what a big deal they've been making of it!! We in Scotland have thought the whole fuss slightly amusing. Get a grip guys! (Pun intended)
Interesting! School is never closed here either but when I was growing up in the eastern part of the U.S, they closed for snow all the time.
